After graduating from Michigan State University, I was eager to get out of town – I was under the impression that Lansing didn’t have much to offer, and that it was dull. So I moved back home with my parents, and soon started a job in Detroit. I loved it, and loved seeing the city explode with new shops, restaurants and businesses.
But something was missing.
I missed the close-knit community I had developed in Greater Lansing, and was yearning to be back ‘home.’ After a year and a half of working and living in Metro Detroit, I moved back to Lansing with my soon-to-be husband, and finally felt like I was where I was meant to be.
Contrary to what some believe, Lansing is full of life. A vibrant, thriving community of art, culture, craft cocktails, coffee, donuts and music keep the city bustling. I love being part of #LoveLansing, and I want other interns and young professionals to see what the city and surrounding region has to offer. I joined Lansing 5:01 to apply my passion to connect other interns and young professionals to our community.
Our team of volunteers have worked tirelessly to plan outstanding events to showcase the crème de la crème of what #LoveLansing has to offer. Whether human bowling at the Lugnuts stadium, dancing to local musicians along the Lansing River Trail, experiencing Downtown Lansing’s skyline like you’ve never seen it before or hitting the trails at The Ledges, there is truly something for everyone.
Register today for any or all of our free summer events, I will see you there!
